Concubine’s house

This is one of the buildings where the concubines lived. They would make a fire in the elevated floor on one side of the red partial wall so the heat would radiate throughout the room. In another room in this building, we saw their beds and a hanging bassinet for babies. They would place a baby inside and hang the basket from the ceiling. That way, in case animals got inside the buildings, they could not harm the emperor’s children.
