  1. WOW! Love the pictures and descriptions. I can’t imagine not being able to read the name of what you want to eat from a menu. I wonder if you’ll keep a bunch of cheat sheets with you when you go out without a translator? How does it feel to be so close to North Korea? I’m looking forward to future updates.

  2. We miss you!!
So glad to hear that you arrived safely and that the Adventure is underway….
Hoping to see you in Japan in June!

  3. Julie, I am enjoying your photography, and especially your narratives. As I am reading the names of the places you are visiting, it just makes me wonder how those names are pronounced. I pronounce them in my head, but I am sure I am WAY OFF.
Do you have contact with a lot of other Michelin families? What an adventure! Keep up the good writing! Say hello to Tim…we miss him, and hope he’s enjoying the assignment.

  4. Julie,

Hope this finds you. Man I’m delinquent. Sorry I haven’t kept in better touch. Just read your post on Shainghai. I’m so jealous. Have you ever seen Empire of the Sun? I was suckered in by the P-51 scenes. “Cadillac of the sky!” Great cinematography. We’re carrying on your great work here. You would’ve been so proud of us last week. Wish you were here. We match BFKS from 2009 in our first evening of a kickoff campaign for children. Send me an email so I get you in the address book.

  5. Hi T & J-
Thanks for the postcard-loved it! I would love to have a daily walk such as the one you described. Such a stimulting event!

How are language classes going? And the cats–What do they think of their digs? Thanks for writing such an interesting blog; it offers some life perspective at moments when I seriously need it.

    Take care!
